Fun FACT - The origins and great heyday of decorative lattice pastry lasted from the sixteenth to the eighteenth century. The practice almost certainly had its origins in a fashion for knotted strapwork, interlacing decorations, architectural detailing and garden design, but food ornamentation was strongly influenced. Curious knotted biscuits, elaborate tarts and pies were apparently all the rage!
