Fun fact: The medium pork pie is closely associated with Melton Mowbray, where the distinctive hand-raised, bow-sided pork pie became a local speciality in the 18th century. Traditionally, the pastry was made without a tin or mould — the pie was shaped by hand around a wooden “dolly” before baking.
